Infography – Governance and women’s access to positions of responsibility in the social economy

As an extension of the analysis of existing practices relating to parity within SE governance bodies, we have developed the following infography. This enabled us to make a number of observations, common to the three countries where the CAPSE project is currently being tested:

  • There are very few data on gender equality in the SE, and more specifically on governance.

  • The figures show that SE structures are less unequal than the conventional economy on the issue of parity. Nonetheless, the challenges remain the same: the place of women in positions of responsibility is far from natural, much work is still required within the organisations, and concrete tools to encourage parity in governance bodies need to be set up.

  • The larger the organisation, the more difficult it is for women to gain access to decision-making positions.

  • However, there are many resources available today, particularly in France, Spain and Belgium, to meet the challenges of parity in organisations. This infography highlights a number of key tools and inspiring projects that organisations can use as a first step in thinking about this issue.

The ultimate aim of the CAPSE project is to enable governance bodies to use these tools to rethink the way their organisations operate in greater depth, so as to integrate gender equality into their development strategy.
